For most, suicide is hard to talk about. It is estimated that 150 people are directly impacted by every suicide. Those left behind struggle with the initial shock, anger, guilt, despair, confusion and even feelings of rejection. Acts of Kindness (AOK) is a charitable organization founded by volunteers who have a close connection to those feelings, some having been through the experience themselves. They know what it feels like when a friend or relative dies by suicide, and understand the grieving process is different.
Acts of Kindness is not a suicide prevention organization. It offers suicide help for families by supporting the survivors with “bags of kindness”, useful items to show someone cares and understands. Financial support is also offered for funeral costs. The caring volunteers are people to contact, during all phases of the grieving process, to offer referrals to professionals who can help.
The organization also supports first responders witnessing trauma on a daily basis through acts of kindness to show appreciation. Finally, by sponsoring events like the “Zombie blood drive” AOK supports broad-based programs for the overall good of the community.
Acts of Kindness is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer. All of the money raised through events, individual and corporate contributions, go directly to the programs offered by Acts of Kindness.
Our world has enough pain and sorrow, Acts kindness is here to shed a little light on all the darkness. Can we count on your support?
AOK members are 100% FREE volunteers looking to help our Flagstaff community and surrounding areas. Your donations go directly to our causes to improve the lives of our neighbors!
